David was often afraid of riding horses―the feeling of being up so high made him queasy, but he found that with Oasis, he could be calm. He gently pat her neck as he had said draft horse trot along a trail, her tail swishing as she kept up a nice, even pace. The sun had just started to rise, leaving a peaceful lighting across the plains. He enjoyed this. It was quiet. No one was awake just yet, so it felt like he had the whole world to himself. David leaned back in the saddle a little, letting out a soft sigh of relief.
It was all so much, all so soon. his daughter's return, becoming council―it was almost too much on the man. Though, he handled it well. He knew that he'd be used to it eventually. He felt pride swell in his massive chest as he thought about it a bit longer; he would be able to handle this. He has his daughter, and he's seen in Brock's good books. He was safe, and his bad luck was over. For now. It sat away from him, festering in its corner, waiting for a time to strike again. This time, though, David had his walls built up pretty high and pretty strong from the frothing creature. Bad luck would not strike him again any time soon.
Especially not with his baby and Brock on his side.
David shielded his eyes with his hand as the trail turned him towards the sun, the yellow beams making him squint and turn his head. He decided to turn Oasis around to head towards the town to see if anyone had woken up yet, and to see if anyone would be awake to join him.
