The Prince and the Outlaw(Private for Sultan)
« on: March 16, 2017, 09:11:04 PM »
It was a rather warm day for fall. The leaves in the trees were changing from green to reds, yellows, browns, and oranges. The grass was withering, turning brown as well. However, the sky was clear, not a cloud in sight. It was the perfect day for hunting in the forest.

Creeping along, Rowan Hood was on high alert, her bow drawn. Her brother had challenged her to bring back a deer, and she was determined to win. He was always teasing her, and she took every chance she had to out shine her older brother.

Hearing a twig snap, she drew an arrow and advanced towards the sound. Excitement coursed through her. If she managed to bring this deer down, it would be her first successful solo hunt. She wanted to make her father proud.

Moving closer, Rowan made sure to remain hidden. To be spotted down would mean to lose the deer. But when she spotted her prey, it wasn't what she was expecting. Standing there was a young boy, looking to be about ten years of age like herself. There was a bow on his back, but he didn't seem interested in hunting. He wore garments only the rich could afford.

Narrowing her eyes, Rowan stepped out of her hiding spot. "Who are you?" she demanded, her bow drawn to fire. The boy whirled around to face her.

Take it from here sultan!

Its fine. I've been extremely busy myself. I'm going to be in a play on the 24 and 25 so we've been practicing everyday

there was absolutely nothing the boy hated than being in the vicinity of his father and the palace grounds. don't get him wrong - he loved being wealthy, especially when it came with croissants. but he could never wash away the odd feelings of guilt and hatred towards his notorious folk.

he didn't mind the executions - most of them seemed to deserve it - but the sheriff's very personality put him off ever so slightly. he was snobbish, arrogant, rude, insolent, childish, and stupid, and he hated him to the greatest degree.

tadeas decierdo tended to receive a lot of attention -- his parents, village belles, etcetera, etcetera, but he made sure to be humble about it. he was naturally quite reserved, and didn't speak unless spoken to (this trait naturally developed because of the fear bred since his younger years). he rarely ventured out of the castle, and the one time he did was the one he would regret.

"who are you?"

his heart stopped, and at the moment, he almost thought it better to die on the spot than to turn around.

"nobody."

/sorry this took so long!

Its fine. And forgive me if this is crappy. I'm on my phone

Rowan narrowed hef eyes, uneasy about this stranger. "You are someone. Now answer the question who." She demanded. Even as she spoke she was checking him over by eye to make sure he carried no weapons. She would rather not fight. Thankfully, she spotted none.

tadeas cocked an eyebrow. "if you must know.." he muttered, a ghost of a smirk twisted across his features. "i live over there." he gestured behind her, not necessarily expecting her to follow. "in the worst place you could ever imagine."

it wasn't an exaggeration at all. he truly did despise living there and would continue to do so for the rest of his life.

"i'm tadeas. son of the sheriff." he declared after a while.

"now it's my turn to ask." it was only polite to, after all. "who are you?" and why did she seem so defensive? she wasn't some sort of wild animal to defend her territory, was she? the forest belonged to everyone, and everyone belonged to the forest.

but maybe he could make a new friend. he was bored and lonely - maybe they could play a game. she was holding something -- possibly with that?

"what's your name?"

So sorry I haven't answered! I got a new phone, and I haven't transferred my email to my new phone yet, so I never got the email that you had replied!

Rowan was quiet for a long time. So, this was the fearsome son of the man who had killed so many of her family. Did she trust him? Not really. But, she deserved to tell him her name. He had told her his.

"I am Rowan." she tells him, lowering her bow. She walked over to him, and stood to where they could actually see one another. Rowan was shorter and thinner than him. Her skin was darker, kissed by the sun it appeared. Her hair was a rich brown red color, and was braided down her back. Her eyes were dew shaped, and watery blue. She smiled at him.

"What are you doing out in the forest Tadeas if you live in town?" she questioned him, tilting her head slightly to the side. She was a curious person. She couldn't help it.

/aCK SORRY I DIDN'T ANSWER FOR LIKE 400 YRS

He found himself taking a step back when she approached him. Rowan. He gave her a small nod of acknowledgement, but was caught off guard by the smile that ensued.

What are you doing out in the forest Tadeas if you live in town?

He wasn't sure how to answer.

"I got bored. There's nothing to do over there. No one to play with, either. Everyone's boring." It wasn't completely a lie -- as a matter of fact, not one at all. He really was bored. And if this meeting worked out for the better, maybe he wouldn't be anymore.

"What are you doing out here?" By her clothes and demeanor, it seemed obvious. But he had to make sure.

He ended up answering the question for her. "Is this..is this your home?" he grinned. "You live with Robin Hood or something?"

You're fine.

Rowan smiled faintly. "Yes, this is my home. And yes, I live with Robin Hood." she told him. He didn't seem like a threat at all; just a scared boy. She turned and began walking away from him slowly. "Want a look around?" she offered him over her shoulder. She paused, waiting to hear his answer.

Rowan suddenly turned around, facing him once more. "Just, promise me you won't tell anyone?" she asked him, concern in her gaze. Robin Hood had forbidden her from telling anyone who she was, or bringing anyone into the forest. Now she was about to break both of the rules. But it seemed worth it to have a friend.

He had been joking. At least he thought he was. "Robin Hood -- I really didn't mean that as a -- but, you do? You really do?" She wasn't being sarcastic, he didn't think. She didn't seem like that kind of type.

Want a look around?

That was precisely what he wanted. Tadeas hadn't had a look around since his father's quaint lashing the other day. He would quite love a look around. "Yeah." he nodded, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

He was a little confused, though. Who was she, and why the heck was she letting him have a look around?

Just, promise me you won't tell anyone?

About what? Letting him have a look around, or the whole shenanigan about Robin Hood? "Cross my heart and kiss my elbow." He wouldn't tell a soul if his life depended on it. He knew his dad was out to kill Mister Hood, but he never thought he was real.

"Can you let me have a look around now?"

Rowan grinned and nods. "Let's get going. It'll be dark soon and I'll have to lead you out before then." she said. She then took off at a run, glancing back behind her every so often to make sure he was keeping up. She lead him deep into the forest. In the distance, a faint roaring could be heard. It sounded like a waterfall.

"I'm going to show you the waterfall first. We fish here a lot." Rowan told him over her shoulder. She slowed as the roaring grew louder until she was walking. She grinned at him before leading the way between two rocks.

The rocks opened up to reveal a large pound. It was surrounded by the rock wall, and across from the entrance was a small waterfall. It sprayed a light mist as the water fell, creating a rainbow. The grass was a bright green, and short. There was only one tree. It was beside the waterfall, and was an ancient willow.

"I love it here." Rowan told him as she made her way down to the water's edge. She sat down on one of the flat rocks, and looked back at him. "Come sit beside me. We can talk for a moment then I'll show you some more." she told him.
