claire loves u!
nothing is as it was.

when the morning finds him, it awakens him with thought - the thought of how everything has fallen together. how he landed himself here, sharing a king sized bed with the single being he holds dearest to his heart. and that is the first thing he sees; when his eyes flutter open, they are greeted with the sight of his still sleeping face.

it is past sunrise, and as cooper sits upright and stretches out he wonders why his love remains so blissful in his dreams. kadin is the sort to rise and set with the sun, surely he would've been up hours ago? he takes this as a blessing in disguise, and uses the shadows of the early morning to make a quick getaway. he leaves kadin with a kiss on his cheek and love in his eyes.

when he descends the stairs and greets the rest of the house, he is met with silence. in the distance, paws patter across the hard wood floors, and soon the dogs are all at his feet. each one is met with a few loving scratches on their heads before being gently nudged out of the way as he sweeps his way across the kitchen and to the back door. through the glass sunlight comes pouring in, illuminating him in its glow and filling him with warmth anew. he carefully slides the door open and heads out into the yard, where the dewdrops on the grass kiss at his feet and the leaves of the trees rustle in excitement.

truthfully, he's unsure as to why he came out here. he muses that it must be for the fresh air, though he pays it little mind as he instead sits himself down in a patch of grass that is lit perfectly by a stray beam of sunshine. he feels at home here, listening to the songs of nature play out in perfect harmony. and for a moment, he wonders how he could be so lucky as to be here.

but it isn't luck that has brought him here, nor is it chance or fate. it was dedication. perseverance. years of trying and failing. years of mistreatment. and love, love unlike any that has ever shaken the grounds of man. he eternally thanks the higher powers he does not believe in that their love is as strong as it is, that life has been as fair to them as it has. things are not easy, nor have they ever been, and this he both acknowledges and accepts.

COOPER.

EVERETT N. FOX 25, THEY/THEM
as everett's fist connects to the strangers face, they do not feel the fire that crawls from their knuckles up their whole arm. they don't feel the swift kick to their gut either - their senses have been blocked by fiery aggression, eyesight tinged vermilion as everything they know becomes anger and hatred. anger, anger which crawls under their skin and digs into each nerve and sets it ablaze. hatred, hatred which seethes from their mouth with every breath.

another kick, straight into their chest, and they're sent reeling back into the powdery white snow. it's getting dark out, and the snow's getting heavier, and they're now gasping for air in desperation. despite the snow, and the chill in the air, everett can feel beads of sweat dribble down their brow. as their vision clears just a bit, they lunge forward, head and shoulders blasting through their opponent at such a velocity that even through the rage they can feel the pain. both are knocked down into the snow, with everett landing perfectly atop their target so they can grab at his throat and pin him down.

"don't move" they demand, drops of blood sputtering from their mouth with each word. wait, since when were they - there was no time to worry about blood right now. everett could feel the body beneath them wiggle, as if attempting to break free, and they tightened their grip in response. "don't tempt me. the only thing stoppin' me from killing ya is knowing you've still got other people who need to get at ya" with that, everett let go of the stranger and watched as he gasped for air, and they stood up on unsteady legs and turned back to the small group of onlookers. nobody seemed to have anything to say at the sight of the beast, and all seemed to drop everything and scramble away to let everett pass them. isn't it funny how people can run their mouths like it's a marathon until they see how serious you are?

as everett walks past the group, they can feel someone nudge them and they turn to see a wad of cash being waved almost right in their face. they're quick to snatch this and turn away, leaving the dim alley for the comfort of the empty street. the sun has bled out over the horizon and stained the sky a passionate red, but storm clouds are settling in for the evening and making the sky their home. it is now that the anger and the hatred melt away in everett's veins, leaving horrible nothingness in their wake. and as the emotion sheds itself from their body so too does the pain relief it brings, and everett can all at once feel every bruise and welt that has begun to grow on their skin. they can feel the twisted knots in their stomach, the shortness of their breath, and the feeling is enough to make them lean up against the closest building and spit fire up from their stomach. they heave until they can feel the last bits of their insides seemingly leave them, and no matter how hard they try they can't help but notice the blood that's mixed with the bile.

unfinished but its something ig
