*:・゚✦ ARE YOU OKAY — [ MEETING | 03.03 ]
« on: March 03, 2018, 05:58:53 PM »
Benjamin has been sick for a long time. He'd been hoping that a fever wouldn't catch up with him, but eventually the stress of overworking himself had ruined his plans to be there for his group, and one day he'd woken up without the slightest hope of getting up. Peter had of course taken good care of him, even putting himself out into the group more to cover his absence, and though Benjamin had appreciated that, Peter was still a reckless little shit. So, due to an endless stream of get-well kisses (ones he'd specifically tried to avoid, though he'd ultimately failed) the silver-haired teenager had also ended up getting sick himself. And now, as if the roles have been swapped, Benjamin is up and on the move while his boyfriend lies in bed, sick and tired and obviously needing a break. He doesn't blame him. The sickness sucks, though recently he's been noticing less people complaining about being ill—it could be fading away a little bit. He can only hope, because he desperately needs Johannes to come back already. Being leader... Well, though he doesn't exactly want to admit it, he's not cut out for it. Neither is Peter, or even Andor. This is not their job, they'd gotten no training whatsoever, and to be honest, Benjamin just wants to go back to not worrying about the status of everyone else in the group. He wants to go back to sitting by himself at dinner, avoiding social interaction, and being a general nobody. It was nicer. He can't think about that right now, though, because the blind man has already found himself standing where the leaders normally stand, listening lamely as the rest of Flintlock floods in, as per usual.

He doesn't wait for very long before he clears his throat to catch their attention. To his surprise, they shut up this time without much of a fuss, and with a brief puff of air from his nose, Benjamin shifts on his heels awkwardly, the silence in the room filled only with the sound of a whirling snowstorm currently going on outside. "Thank you," Benjamin says quietly, rolling his cane between his fingers and allowing a sigh to slip through his lips. Guess he better start. "Sorry that I randomly got sick like that. I, uh... I go and report to Johannes, so I was around him enough to catch what he had, or something. But I'm feeling better, so I may be lucky. Or... Something. I think less people are getting sick, so it may be fading, but stay on your toes. Anyway," Benjamin rocks back and forth on his heels, turning blind eyes to the roof as he remembers what he's planned on saying. After a moment, a smile turns the corners of his lips up, just barely—it's hardly noticeable. "Peter's a dork and got himself sick kiss—trying to take care of me," he coughs briefly into one hand, though this time it's fake and only out of embarrassment, "so, we've switched. He's sick, and I'm up." A nod follows that, and the smile fades back into the tired look that Benjamin's face defaults to. Then, he moves on easily.

"I'd like to welcome anyone new who showed up while I was dead. And, ah—really good news. Gilbert is back. I don't know if he's... Here, but... He's back. Please treat him well, but give him space." Blind eyes flick over the crowd, as if he's looking for the boy in his own thoughts, but he doesn't do that for long. His eyes simply turn back up to stare blankly into nothing, and for a moment, he rubs at one of his arms. "As for political things... My sickness and now Peter's sickness have put off the meeting with the Badlands, but I think I may go just with Andor. And don't—don't tell Peter that." His eyes roll with a brief shake of his head, and a scoff starts up in the back of his throat, though it's not annoyed. He just seems amused. "He'd never let that happen, so it's a secret. If anyone wants to go with me, just tell me. You can go as long as you're over eighteen, can ride a horse, and can handle a weapon. I don't want kids or anyone inexperienced going with me. This is a dangerous meeting, and I'm not putting any of you in danger." His eyes harden, and thick eyebrows furrow as he tilts his chin up slightly. "Plus I need defense, since I absolutely suck. But let's not say that." Gritting his teeth, Benjamin moves on.

"More political things... We're still low on medicine, so we need to go and trade with Northstar again, if we can. So I'm going to be lumping that into the Badlands meeting... Whoever goes with me to meet with the Badlands leader can also go with me to trade. Just say the word. If you only want to go to trade, that's fine. We're going to trade first, and I'm going to send a few of you back to take the supplies back anyway," the raven-haired man continues, rolling his shoulders. "Since I've also been gone so long, I'll take care of the weekly tasks before we all go. I feel like I need to be around for this place more. I feel bad for being sick," the teenager sighs, shaking his head and turning sightless eyes to the ground. "Speaking of that, actually... It's probably caused by the weather. And—" he pauses as something hits the side of the lodge, and for a moment he tenses, directing his attention to the loud noise, but it doesn't happen again. It was probably something hitting the wall because of the snowstorm outside, which only leads him to his next point effortlessly. "The weather, as you can tell, is kind of getting, uh... Worse? So be careful going outside. I feel like it could be getting bad soon, so, uh... Yeah. That's about it, so... As soon as this snowstorm stops, I'll be setting out with a group of whoever decides to come. Just tell me—I'll be here." He nods, smiling an awkward, tight-lipped smile. "Meeting dismissed."

Greer sat there, with a tissue in hand and little appetite as she listened curiously to the announcements. She suspected she herself was getting a bit sick, but she had tried her hardest to ignore it despite sleeping for nearly the whole week. Concern grew in her eyes as she heard about Peter growing sick, but she quickly hid it by casting her gaze down and concentrating on the sound of a storm outside. She couldn't help but feel slight relief, realizing the snowstorm was only hitting after Gilbert returned hom-- here. At the news of Gilbert's return, she thought for a moment. No, he wasn't here. He was... Unhappy, and he was hiding in his room after she urged him out of the rabbit hutch due to the weather. But not here. She'd take him food later, though. Greer appreciated Benjamin's words in regard to Gilbert, though.

The meeting with Badlands made her - infuriated. She knew it was for the best they try to end the war, to stop fighting - but she still felt aggravated knowing Gilbert was coming from there, and acting so - dejected in his return. She would've liked to go. But there was a lot keeping her here. She could lie about her age, and she was very skilled with weapons - but horses... She was terrified of such big creatures, let alone did she know how to ride one. But more than ever, now she wished she could ride. Maybe she'd have to learn.

But more importantly, people were getting sick and with a snowstorm like this, she had to be around to help as best as she can. Gilbert had a bullet wound in his damned hand she needed to watch, she needed to watch Gilbert in general. So she supposed no matter what, she couldn't go even if she could ride horses. Greer would slowly lower her head a little as the meeting ended, and she was tempted to tell Benjamin he was doing good as leader. Tell him good job, whatever - but she decided to refrain, only ducking her head quietly as she stood up, moving to leave the meeting.
