IF YOU WERE HUMAN [open]
« on: September 28, 2018, 12:00:51 AM »
Peter Nyles & 19 & Hard & Attack in #006400
Peter was seated on the porch step, one foot resting on the step just below him, the other stretched out. In his hands was a piece of wood and a savage-looking knife. He was carefully bringing the knife down, peeling away the outer bark and carving at the wood within. It didn't look like much just yet, but pretty soon it'd be the size of a pendant. Maybe he'd even be able to paint it.

Ugh. He might be keen on making this, but it was a grim reminder of the necklace he'd lost in the tussle with what's-his-face. Jason. Who the hell knew where it had ended up?

Russel was familiar with the art of whittling; he'd met many people who had hobbies of turning chunks of wood into things like toys, jewelry, doorstops, decorations... Though Russel didn't quite have the patience for quite a thing, he wasn't surprised to see one of the older Rogues sitting on a porch, knife and wood in hand.

"You should make a dog." Russel said, sitting down next to Peter as if he was actually comfortable with the other person. In truth, he was bored and Angie was in a mood not conductive to fighting with her so he figured he might try to get a read on Peter.

Of course whittling was a popular hobby; all it required was a blade and wood - knives were easy enough to come by, and trees grew everywhere. Gone were the days when people would play games on mobile phones, or otherwise entertain themselves with something electronic.

Peter was kind of surprised that Russel took a seat next to him; the kid seemed to have problems with everyone, and treat anyone that approached him as a possible threat rather than a groupmate. The attitude was a bit unnerving, but he'd seen plenty of kids come here fucked up. "I will next time, if you want." He already had something in mind, but it wouldn't be long before he moved on to the next project.

Russel stayed quiet and watched as Peter worked, tapping one foot. His gaze flicked from Peter himself to the pendant Peter was working on, silently gathering as much information as he could without being forced to talk.

Russel did have a big problem with people who approached him, but approaching people was easier; if they approached him he didn't have any control, it was a complete unknown, but if he had the choice to talk to them then it was much easier.

Peter didn't really have any trouble either way. People could approach him, or he could approach others. He didn't have anything to worry about from the typical every day interaction, and he had a pretty solid idea of what he'd get from people. Talking to Samantha was fun, he and Angie talked about deeper and more serious topics than they would with anyone else, Gene was always fishing for something, Sarah was shy but was always interested in what he had to say and had interesting responses, and Wesley seldom had anything nice to say. Russel was another person that didn't seem all that positive, but Peter didn't want to judge him based on the interactions he'd witnessed with Angie. "Do you like dogs?"
