BLOODY SUNDAY [MEETING]

//tw for injuries and violence

Since their last full on meeting, two significant things had happened. One, they had taken over Northstar, and two, they had been stabbed. It wasn't too bad, their assailant hadn't been nearly at his most capable, barely able to hold the weapon he attacked them with, but still, getting stabbed was never fun. As much as they didn't want to let up, they knew they should at least take it easy and rest. But, being that they were already a lazy son-of-a-bitch (because "son" was a word that applied to them and "bitch" was a word that applied to Molly), they already slacked off enough.

"Meeting time." They called, marching through the city and making their way into the casino. To anyone but the very few people aware of what had happened, it would be hard to tell they were hurt. They moved in pretty much the same way they always had, carrying on through the pain. There was a clue, though, perhaps subtle enough that many would miss it, though those that paid attention would perhaps wonder why the box that contained the bandannas and necklaces was sitting on top of the billiard table instead of below it. Normally it was stowed out of the way until the end of the meeting, but no, this time Cat hadn't wanted to bend down, nor get someone else to do that for them.

⇥ Catalyst is 6'2" tall; they possess a lean and muscular body, one that has a variety of old scars adorning it. They have two piercings, one in their tongue and the other in the cartilage of their left ear. They typically dress in dark colors (favoring jackets with some sort of writing on the back), and their hair is black. They're not all dark, however, as they have pale blue eyes that peer out from beneath medium-sized eyebrows.

PERSONALITY   if it feels good, tastes good, it must be mine
⇥ Catalyst is ambitious, with the cunning and ruthlessness to reach their goals by any means necessary. They can be brutal when they feel it is needed, however when it's not they won't bother. They tend to be rather aloof and apathetic to most things and people, with some very rare exceptions. Provided those around them don't cross a few specific lines, they're content to leave them be, though they've been known to take an interest in some people, which seldom has a positive end for whoever their interest is in. They can be manipulative, and will often encourage people to make bad decisions. Those that stick by them will be rewarded, but those that do not will be cast out, as they've been outcast for their entire life and have learned to appreciate loyalty wherever they can find it. Even during the most stressful of situations, they usually keep a firm grip on their temper and keep their calm, though when they do snap and lose their temper, it is uncontrollable. They're remarkably observant, often able to deign much from subtle clues in what people say, how they say it and how they act.

IF I COULD FEEL NOTHING
being one of the few people that knew what had happened, creed kept her eye out to see how cat was holding up. they knew what they were getting themselves into when they planned it, so she was pretty sure they weren't about to let it effect the pattern of things. sure enough, she was right and if she didn't already know that he was injured, she wouldn't have been able to tell.

creed made her way towards the casino when they announced the meeting, her long legs taking casual strides up the steps and inside. once she was there she hung towards the back of the crowd, her arms crossing over her chest as she waited for it to start.

Mord couldn't say he was surprised by Cat's persistence in carrying on with business as usual, despite their latest injury. The younger individual was not known to be honest and open in general, even around the few who actually had a close connection with them. When the boss finally came around for his help, the sight of the rushed patch job and the lack of explanation was all he needed to understand that whatever happened wasn't meant to be common knowledge. He couldn't blame them, really; in times like these, in a position where all eyes are on you, any sign of weakness could be a fatal mistake. Trust was a luxury, especially in the badlands, of all places. And although Mord could definitely be discreet when needed, he wouldn't consider it anything more than an occasional courtesy.

Therefore, the doctor's gaze only briefly drifted to the hidden injury once as he wandered to his usual spot near the back of the room. He had to admit, Cat was handling the injury pretty damn well. While he was sewing the wound shut, Mord had wondered how they were going to keep regular appearances without proper painkillers or extended period of rest, but it seemed the boss had found a way to pull it off through well-rehearsed movements and a strategically-placed box upon the table. 'Smart kid,' he mused silently.

Really, the only difference thus far that could be detected was the placement of the box. They ended up seated beside it on the billiard table just like normal, though instead of leaving their legs hanging over the side, they pulled them up and crossed them. Eh, not great for the table but when had they ever showed signs of caring? Besides, there were other tables and who was going to complain to Catalyst?

"Alright, let's just jump into things, right? We've got eight joiners. Eight joiners. That's a lot, right? It's not just me?" They glanced around, Hope was as neutral as always, Gav seemed amused (of course he was, that was half of his job at this point, wasn't it?), and Mord muttered something under his breath that they didn't quite catch, but he seemed supportive. "But that's why we're in Northstar right now, yeah? Gotta support a growing group. Anyway, that's still on and if anyone wants to head over there, feel free." They weren't gonna let anything throw off things there, their determination hadn't waned one bit since they had taken it over a week ago.

"Right, back on track. About half of our joiners this week came in pairs, more or less. The first two were Phoenix and Ava, thought technically he came a day or so before she did, and I don't think it was planned. Still, I'm counting it. The other are brother and sister, Meg and Charles Wallace. They're easy enough to pick out just by the kid's attitude alone." Okay, maybe they were a little salty at the boy's comments about the Badlands' location, but could you really blame them?

Okay, so those were the people that had something to do with someone else, even if they still weren't sure what that something was in the case of Phoenix and Ava. "Alright, fug it, I'm gonna keep doing the twos thing because why the hell not. It works. Don't question it. Anyway, Cassius and Valerie, got nothing to do with each other but they both turned up on the beach with a zoo so... there ya go. Last but not least, Angel and Joseph, they've both uh, seen better days." They paused, scowling more at themself than anything else. "Okay that's a bit of a stretch but seriously though."

They shifted their weight, feeling a jolt of pain. Oh yeah. "Some of you may not be aware yet, but Michael is back here where he belongs. For those are you that are new, he's been in Flintlock doing time for hitting one of their members. He's currently on house arrest as well, so just leave him alone unless I say otherwise." House arrest. Yeah, he'd gotten off easy after everything he'd done, but somehow, during his little (it was actually kinda long) confession, he'd said something that made Cat want to keep him around instead of offing him like they'd planned. So, for the time being he was locked up in his house, where he hopefully wouldn't hurt anyone else. It was a temporary solution, they knew, but the alternative was far more permanent.

"In lighter, arguably overdue news, I'm going to be giving a few people bandannas. Just the regular old red ones, but still. In their own ways, they've each proven their capabilities and loyalties." They tugged the cardboard box closer and withdrew three striped bandannas. "Creed, Gavril, Mordecai, c'mon." The three of them walked over, and one by one they gave each of the now fully initiated Badlanders a bandanna. It didn't really matter much where they wore them; Cat had their white and black one tied around their arm, but several people had put theirs around their neck.

"Mord, one more thing." They paused, reaching back into the box and took out a white armband. "I'd say this in particular is long overdue, but I'm all the more confident in giving you the medic title because of the wait, so there we go." After Mord took the armband, they put their arms behind them and leaned back for a moment. There was something else, ah yes, they weren't quite done passing stuff out. "Hey, newbies, you guys get necklaces. They're until you earn the bandannas like they did, but it shows you're a Badlander. One of us. So come get one." They sat forward again, shutting their eyes as they moved. It was like a switch had gone off in their brain, and they were back in Mourningstar, not allowed to be a mortal person anymore. They had to be invincible.

But they weren't invincible, and it still hurt.

They did their best not to let the pain show, though, and reached into the box and started counting out necklaces, passing them out as people came forward, scarcely checking to make sure that they were giving them to the right people. "Right, so unless someone has a question, the meeting's dismissed."

OOC Summary:
— Reminder that we took over Northstar! You guys are free to get involved in the takeover thread or have y/cs be in threads around ND (hell, even make some). There are gonna be some new threads up over there in the next day or so, so be on the lookout for those too.
— Welcomes to Phoenix, Ava, Meg/Finny, Charles Wallace/Finny, Cassius/Crows, Valerie/Truce and Joseph/Baumann/Body. If anyone needs or wants anything, let me know!
— Mike is back from Flintlock Lodge and is currently under house arrest, and Cat icly doesn't want anyone talking to him for now for quite a few reasons honestly.
— Creed, Gavril and Mordecai have been officially fully initiated and given red bandannas to showcase that.
— Mord has also been given the Medic title.
— Cat's passing out necklaces to the new members of BL and asking if anyone has any questions.
— The discussions in BL's ooc are still ongoing, particularly the big one and the tradition one.

addy had always found these meetings to be pretty boring, full of information that he never really cared for. all he really did find in it was some way to know the faces of those around him, especially all the newcomers. all he really did see in it was that he was staring down people he either disliked, or really disliked- nothing more, nothing less. it also gave him a chance to try and figure out all of badland’s traditions, which seemed to run farther than anything the redhead could quite wrap his head around.

bandanas, necklaces… the sight of them being handed out made him feel even more aware of his own necklace. he’d been wearing it for a while, and when he’d once thought of the necklaces as some cheap way to single the newbies out-- he actually felt some sort of fondness towards the necklaces. huh. and as much as he wanted to pretend that he didn’t want to have any marking that showed his loyalty to the badlands, something in him wanted that damn bandana. fuckin’ cat, using his mind games on him. the meeting was concluded with cat asking if anyone had any questions, and while addy was very, very tempted to give some snide remark - like “how long has that stick been up your ass?” - he decided to keep his mouth shut. alright. successful meeting.

Immigrants,
we get the job done.
Who lives, who dies, who tells your story?
He was in the back as usual, listening to Cat talk as his eyes darted around for no reason other than he just couldn't focus on one thing. The best he had gotten with that was his amuse look hearing Cat's attempt at a joke, or well...something. Then they had went on with introducing the newbies, in pairs. There were a lot, only two of which he had actually somewhat met. Next was to report that Michael was back, "He's currently on house arrest as well, so just leave him alone unless I say otherwise." this caught his attention, eyes finally landing on Cat with a confused look. Was this part of his punishment from Cat or was he...missing something. He dismissed it for now.

Hearing his name when mention of the bandannas, he looked up confused at first, hesitating to move at first but once Mord and Creed went to go up he followed. He took the bandanna from them, tying it over their nose and mouth like a dork with a wink to Cat. However as he walked to go among the crowd again, he pulled it down so it was around his neck. "Right, so unless someone has a question, the meeting's dismissed." He could think of a million meaningless questions to ask just for the hell of it, but he chose not to. He'd just stick around to bother Cat.
