since logan’s ‘matchmaker’ had a doctorate, one would think sarah would have a more colorful description for logan’s blind date than a one-sentence text saying, “he has dark hair and a nice bod, have fun!” one would think that, right? nonetheless, it proved to be incredibly difficult to find a guy that didn’t have dark hair, and, furthermore, it was difficult to know what exactly her idea of a “nice bod” was. even as the er nurse glanced into the restaurant window as he passed - like any reasonable person does on a blind date - he didn’t see anyone who fit her description. his lips pursed slightly, resisting the urge to send his coworker a long, lengthy text complaining about the lackluster description of his date. if she thought they’d be cute together, the least she could’ve done was make it easier to find him in a nice, somewhat busy restaurant.

a nice restaurant. you’d be more likely to see the nurse meandering around the nearest taco bell than here. however, seeing as taco bell wasn’t exactly “first date material” (for some unknown reason), here he was. dressed in nice (not formal, but nice) clothes at this restaurant. he felt out of place, he truly did. as he wandered further into the restaurant, eyes casually grazing over each table with the hopes of someone being seated by themselves.

he glanced down at his watch - it’s a medical thing, always having a watch on - and felt his heart sink. damn. over ten minutes late… he’d been held back a bit at work, maybe this guy would understand that. especially if logan said that he worked at the er because, i mean, you can’t exactly clock out when someone is profusely bleeding all over. that wasn’t much of an excuse, but, hey, logan was known for being “fashionably late” to social events nowadays.

when his eyes finally landed on someone seated at a table for two, alone, looking like they were waiting for someone, logan just knew that was his date. and… maybe her description wasn’t that bad, after all.

although logan was the master of working well under pressure, at first sight, he was absolutely tongue-tied. good god, why had sarah matched him with the most perfect human on earth? if anything, this guy’s mere presence was making logan feel overwhelmingly below-par in the looks department. part of him wondered if omar - that was his name, by the way - would even be missing out on much if he ducked out of this place. still, it felt wrong to even think about ditching someone on the first date (especially mcdreamy, over there) so, with his heart racing in his chest, he made his way towards the table.

“um. are you omar?” after a moment of confirmation, logan found himself smiling to himself. hell, smiling was an exaggeration; it was a full-out grin. who wouldn’t be grinning if this was their blind date? clearing his throat awkwardly because, yes, he’d caught himself staring, he greeted, “i’m logan, it’s nice to meet you.” he then took the opportunity to sit down at the empty seat in front of omar, trying to resist the urge to look at that handsome face all over again. it was a common fear on a blind date that you’d get paired up with some kind of creep; right now, logan felt like he was well on his way to becoming said creep.

their waiter came and placed their drinks down before fleeing off to another table, giving them more time to think about what to eat. oh, god, omar had to order a drink for him? “i’m so sorry i was late. i got caught up at work.” a small huff of laughter followed that statement, offering a shrug as he pulled his drink closer. “it’s the lamest excuse in the book, i know-- but it’s our first date, so you’ve gotta act like it’s a good one.” with that he sent a playful look the other’s way, paired with a light wink. it wasn’t until he took an absent sip of the beverage through the straw that he felt his heart absolutely melt for the dumbest of reasons.

“you ordered a dr. pepper for me?” that was paired with another long gulp of logan’s sugary addiction, a content sigh passing his lips. “did sarah tell you to do that? it’s my drug, at this point.” hesitating to briefly berate himself for calling dr. pepper his ‘drug’, he straightened and tried to at least think of something decent to say. who could blame him, though? every time he caught the other’s eyes, he was derailed completely from his thoughts all over again, his heart pounding away in his chest. god, what was wrong with him? “ha, sorry. where do you work?”

Too formal...

For what seemed like the millionth time that day, omar unbuttoned his shirt and took of his pants, ready to try on the next outfit. For the past thirty minutes, the man had been going through his closet and trying to find the perfect outfit for tonight. A work friend, sarah he believed, had heard that he was single and had scheduled this whole date for him. The mere thought of where he would be in the next hour made his palms sweat. It had been quite some time since he had gone on a date, much less a first one. He didn't know what to wear. Of course he wanted to impress his date, but at the same time, he wanted to make it seem like he wasn't doing what he was doing now: taking ten hours to pick out a damn outfit.

Time was getting short and Omar didn't really have time to change again. With one last glance in the mirror, he decided that what he was wearing was ok. It was a simple, dark sweater, some khakis and a pair of nice boots. It was really simple, but it was the best thing he picked out all night. So, with that, he threw his hair into a bun and left the house, en route to some nice restaurant in the center of downtown.

It was only when Omar entered the restaurant did the whole situation finally hit him. He was actually going on a date. It felt like it had been years since he had last been on a date and it might as well have been. His past relationship... hadn't been the best by any measure. It had left the man scarred and bruised. Now, he just prayed that he would be enough for his date, Logan. Or that he could at least seem like he was enough...

Upon entering the establishment, Omar decided to get a table, doubting that the other would already be there. After all, he was at least twenty minutes early. It was always his motto that being on time was being late so he always arrived to events early. However, he quickly began regretting it as the minutes began ticking by. He constantly checked his watch, seeing 10 minutes go by, 20 minutes go by, 30 minutes go by. He could feel the staff's sympathy for him begin to grow with every second that Omar spent waiting on his date.

Anxiety began to eat away at Omar. Was he being stood up? Did Sarah somehow show his blind date a picture or told him a bit about the pediatrician and figured that he wasn't good enough. Ok, ok he needed to calm down. The guy was only ten minutes late technically. It was Omar's fault for getting there early. There are plenty of reasons as to why he could be running late. Oh god, what if the other had gotten a table before him and they had both been waiting for each other without knowing it?! That would be so embarrassing. Especially since the description of this Logan character was about as vague as they come. Literally anyone matched the description of brown hair, fair skin, gorgeous eyes. What did she mean by gorgeous eyes? What did she quantify as gorgeou-

Oh. That's what she meant.

The man that rounded the corner,... to say the least, was absolutely breathtaking. Everything about him seemed like he was scuplted perfectly by the gods themselves. And god his eyes. He had never seen anything so... so blue. Omar thought he was anxious before, but oh god this man had him suddenly sweating bullets. It was a good thing he decided to wear something dark tonight. It would've been embarrassing if Logan noticed anytime during their date that this man had him sweating so much.

"Yes I am, you must be Logan then," he replied to Logan's inquiry, his slight Turkish accent shining through in his nervous state. He immediately got to his feet and shuffled out from between the table and chair, nearly tripping as he did so. He extended his arms out to the other and pulled him into a brief hug. "It's nice to meet you too," he said before releasing the other and quickly seating himself. Was it getting hot in here or was it just Omar? He couldn't help but let himself drink in the other's appearance. Logan's grin was positively infectious and in the presence of it, he felt the corners of his own lips begin to pull upwards. Surprisingly to the point where he could swear his teeth might have been showing. He only looked away as brown eyes met baby blues, realizing he had been caught staring, not knowing that the other had been doing the same.

He attention was caught by the waiter as he brought their drinks, visibly more happy than he had been before. Probably more at ease that Omar finally had a date and could order something instead of sit there and take up space. Finally, something to calm his nerves a bit. He quickly snagged his sweet tea and took a long sip. Though his attention was immediately snagged at the sound of the other's voice. A small chuckle left his body at the other's apology followed by a quick joke. Oh god, Logan winked at him. It was playful and he knew it but apparently his stomach didn't get the message. It was like a whole butterfly garden had been released in his stomach and it left the boy shook to say the lease. In an attempt to gather himself again, he waved a hand in dismissile and gave the other a soft smile. "It's quite alright, I understand completely," he said, "and even if I hadn't I have to now since it's our first date and all."

Omar was shocked at just how pleasantly surprised the other was from his simple choice in drink. It was cute. A grin couldn't help but spread across his face, lighting up all his features, knowing that he had made this man's day by getting him a dr. pepper. "all she told me was to get you something carbonated and sweet. I just went out on a limb but I'm so glad you like it" he lied ever so smoothly through his teeth. Of course Sarah had told him what kind of drink he should get the other, figuring he might not be on time. It was very unlikely that he could guess something like that. If anything, he would've guessed pepsi. Shh. "I feel you on a spiritual level there. Sweet tea is my actual cocaine. I would die without it," he remarked. God he probably sounded so stupid to Logan! He really needed to pull it together before he made this man run off.

The question was to be expected. Absolutely. But it made him slightly uncomfortable. Omar was never one to brag or flaunt his money and job. He just prayed that Logan wouldn't suddenly view him as a snob. "I actually work at St. Charles, the hospital not too far from here." Now that he had finally gotten over how gorgeous Logan was (ok he wasn't but don't tell anyone), his curiosity began taking over. He wanted to know more about this man. More than just where he worked, what his favorite color was. "And what about yourself? Where do you work? What do you enjoy doing outside of it?"

if logan ever ran into sarah (which was fairly rare or during dire moments where time was precious, seeing as he tried his best to avoid the pediatric wing) he was going to rip her a new one. the description hadn’t prepared him at all. she didn’t describe the long, freaking gorgeous hair, or the soft look in those doe eyes. and, okay, maybe “nice bod” could be understood, but it definitely didn’t serve this guy any justice. it wasn’t like he was comprised of only muscle. it didn’t look like his shirt was going to rip if he flexed too hard. sarah had talked about him so casually; one would think that he hadn’t been anything special to look at. but oh my god-- oh god that smile was going to be the death of him and he hadn’t been mentally prepared for it.

now, normally, nobody would ever here logan complain about not being mentally prepared. whenever there was someone being pushed in on a stretcher, or blood spewing everywhere, logan barely even broke a sweat. guess there was a huge difference in remaining cool during dire situations, and remaining cool when seeing the most perfect man alive. he was already assessing himself; sweating, pain in his chest, rapid heartbeat-- dear god hopefully someone around here was a doctor.

before he could think too much, the other was hugging him. as in, wrapping his arms around him and giving him one of the warmest, most welcoming hugs. after a stressful day like today, logan needed that. like, needed it so badly that he’d wrapped his arms around his blind date, and kept him there for a few moments longer. any longer and he probably would’ve bursted into tears or something. and, although the moment had passed, the two of them sliding into their chairs, it was all logan could think about. merely wanting to get a hug like that again.

omar’s response to his apology for being late was enough for a soft smile to come to his lips. “wow, you’re catching on already. keep going, and at this trajectory, you just might be stuck going on another date with me.” that was paired with another grin flashed over at the other, “and i’d actually be here early, how’s that sound?” or, well, probably not at this specific restaurant. although logan got paid enough to most definitely treat himself to this kind of fine-dining, he’d much rather be getting something off the dollar menu at a fast food restaurant.

“your cocaine?” he repeated incredulously, as if the other’s words had been so wrong to say at the time. he made a small ‘hmph’ as he took another sip of his dr. pepper. “dr. pepper is my heroin. so, step it up a little, okay?” of course he was still trying to act like he was disappointed in omar for his word choice, though there was the evident gleam of amusement in his baby blue eyes. wishing addiction on someone wasn’t that great - especially an addiction like logan’s - but.. he was trying, okay? maybe he was trying a bit too hard. maybe omar didn’t like him as much as logan liked omar. the thought made a brief flash of insecurity flare up, his eyes remaining on the other for a few long moments. of course he’d be insecure; wouldn’t someone like logan be so self-conscious sitting across from someone so damn flawless?

after years of being alone and acting like he enjoyed being single, logan had to admit that there was a growing bud of insecurity about his body in there. logan simply hadn’t expected that bud to bloom into something so much more than a tiny insecurity. he acted like he was fine with himself - i mean, he was one of, if not the best er nurse in the state, what was there to be upset about? - but sometimes, he got real down. it was a kind of blues logan couldn’t describe or prescribe anything for. just. blues.

wait. wait wait wait. did he just say… st charles?

his eyes that had been wandering the menu - and omar as well - stared at the man across from him. he was amazed he hadn’t choked on his soda at the other’s words. “i’ve worked at st. charles for about three years.” he waited a moment before bombarding omar with questions. ”are you new, or have i missed you? well. s’kinda hard to miss a face like yours, though.” oh god. the grin was returning back to his lips, then, a whole new interest in his eyes. now, he wasn’t interested in the money - if anyone’s first thoughts were the money they were absolute pricks - but.. just the idea of meeting someone from his own facility was simply amazing to him.

realizing he’d been staring at the other - damn those doe eyes - he straightened and decided to carry on. “i’m an er nurse. ha. probably not as amazing as your profession. which um-- lemme guess…” he looked the other up and down for a moment or two (truly the best, smoothest way he could think of to stare) before saying, “neurosurgeon? you seem like the genius type.” which, to be a neurosurgeon at st. charles, you had to be the smartest damn man alive. seeing as the other didn’t seem so amazed by his guess, he pursed his lips. “um… doctor?”

what did he do outside of work? many thoughts came to mind, though logan wasn’t sure about just which ones to share. “i run quite a lot, actually. all around town. and, um. i workout at the nearby gym- ha, not that you can really tell,” he jested with a quiet laugh. although his arms weren’t rippling with muscle, they were most definitely toned. and although he didn’t have the dreamy six-pack, at least he had a flat tummy. that was all one could dream of, right? he tried to think of a few more things, yet nothing really did come to mind besides taco-bell runs and vegging out on the couch. “i’m usually at my house on days off, though. you know how mentally exhausting it can be in the medical field.” sometimes it was nice to be able to lay on the couch, wrapped up in a blanket, and with little mental stimulation. what else would one need? "how about you? what do you do?"

after the waiter came and took their orders - logan definitely decided that he’d be having steak and salad - he couldn’t help but cut right back into conversation. talking was easy with omar, easy as breathing (perhaps even easier, on some occasions). “i like your accent. a lot, actually,” he admitted, finding himself grow bashful now (out of everything he’d already said, this was what broke his unwavering confidence?). “where are you from?”
