[ cough syrup - open, invite ]
« on: September 13, 2019, 08:15:20 AM »

when he had asked about how to prepare when going to flintlock territory, all he had been told was that it would be smart to wear a jacket and bring a coat. he had been confused by the advice, but the blonde had taken the offer anyway- and was definitely grateful for it, now. as someone who had spent almost their whole life living in the city, it hadn’t occurred to him that some people would be living on top of a snowy mountain. just proved how much he knew, leo guessed.

he crossed his arms over his chest as he neared a lodge, slowing to a stop once he could see it in the distance.

[ hello hello!
this is a short post but this is an invite to saint louis’s horse racing event. it’s set for the 15th. your characters can bring their horse or just be there to socialize!]

vents with other groups fail tremendously to interest Brendan, to put it quite bluntly. Granted, that has nothing to do with the activities; he’s sure that the actual activities themselves are worthwhile. The people, though—awful. Abso-fricken-lutely awful. Annoying, rude, nosy...all of the negative adjectives possible. Brendan knows this for a fact, as he has seen and interacted with the people during events in Flintlock, and jeez Louise, they’re all so bad. The people here at the lodge can be darn near impossible to deal with, but good God, Brendan would rather jump off a cliff than deal with the Badlands.

...Maybe that’s some extreme bias, though. It’s pretty much completely justifiable, at least.

Well, anyways—seeing the stranger near the lodge, Brendan can’t help but force out a rather rude sigh. Rubbing one hand against his temple for a moment, he squeezes his eyes shut, squirming at the headache thumping in his skull. What’s with all of the new people lately? Can’t they just leave Flintlock alone? Like...this place rivals with a hoarder’s house with how packed it’s getting. Not only that, but Brendan only has so many chickens, sooner or later thirty-four of them won’t be able to supply an entire lodge. Ugh...whatever. This is just fine. Dandy. Absolutely perfect. Y’know, it totally helps with the fact that his head pounds like a fricken toddler, yeah? Mhm. Great!

Shoving his grievances aside for now, Brendan marches towards the newcomer, lifting his chin up a little. After doing the usual "stranger at border" thingamabob in his walkie-talkie, he brandishes his staff, half-heartedly pointing the tip at the stranger. (All of this crud has been repeated so many times by this point that it’s natural to him. Jeez, isn’t that a little annoying?)

"Give me your name," Brendan grumbles, eyebrows furrowing together.

Blech, hopefully this goes by quick.
I'm just a product of the system
a catastrophe, and yet a masterpieceTAGS.

the brunette was quiet in her approach. she'd gotten used to that lately, to putting one foot in front of the other in near-absolute silence, and even though she wasn't descending into the basement anymore, it was comfortable. familiar. coat over her shoulders, hands stuffed in her pockets, she gave the boy a once over, stopping beside brendan. she crossed her arms to mirror his stance, let her lips fall into that familiar pout, and, after brendan's inquiry, glanced to the boy she knew, then back to the one she didn't.

❝and what's your business with the lodge?❞

Eddie didn't even think that horse races were a thing anymore. Sure, he'd heard of the city as civilized as a post-blackout city could be, but even still he never expected something so... Normal to still be an annual event such as a race day. A lot of effort was put into training those horses or something, right? Ed didn't know. He never really liked animals, let alone horses.

Slowly, upon seeing an unfamiliar face being confronted by Hayley and Brendan, Ed wandered over, gripping tighter onto the strap of his rifle just in case. Stopping on the other side of Hayley, Ed was silent as his cautious gaze kept a close eye on the newcomer, waiting for him to state his reason for being here.
