Sail with me into the dark
She was more cleaned up now, more healed and not a fucking mess. However, Maddie was still El in some senses, like in the sense of her enjoying being alone for long periods of time. Though she had decided to make herself useful, taking all the books off the shelves of the library and started putting them in piles based on first letter. The more...specifics of alphabetizing later on. She tucked her hair behind her ears, as she had no other way to keep her short hair from getting in her face.

Mads picked up a heavy pile of books, which was too heavy for her but she was determined to get this done. She dropped all the books and groaned, falling back onto her butt. She didn't know if anyone else was around to help but she decided to take a break and fall back onto her back. Her arms hurt, her back was sore but she was determined to get this done.

She laid like that for a while until deciding that was enough, then she got up again. Maddie grabbed the books again and started putting them into their respective piles. "A....R....T...T..." she muttered, walking around trying to find the corresponding piles.

Curiosity lead the boy into the library, the smell of old books and strange rustling leading him closer and closer in. As he found the source, he was first caught aback by the mess that was surrounding the woman. As he peered at the books, he realized that she had to be organizing. Well, someone was bored.

Damien contemplated switching one of the books on the shelf (maybe a D for an S), but then stopped in the middle of his uninspired endeavor to stare at the books again. "There's too many books." Damien said decidedly to Maddy, crossing his arms and staring at the shelves. Damien could read, but he sure wasn't a read-er. He had neither the patience or the sitting still capacity to read anything aside from short, energetic books that hopefully had cool drawings in it.

"How can anyone read these in one lifetime?" He tapped the spine of a book, wrinkling his nose. A whole life spent just.. reading. That was ridiculous. There was so much to be done, so much to do, and Damien couldn't even imagine sitting next to a fire reading a book while the whole world was progressively cooling and cooling.

the library was in a constant mode of disarray, one that hayley had attempted to fix once or twice, but eventually gave up. people at the lodge weren't the most organized, and no matter how many times you put them in order, they tended to just stick them back anywhere. honestly, she was just glad that they even put them on shelves at this point; still, she was fairly happy when she made her way into the room that she saw the teenager making some attempt at organization.

❝it's not too hard, if you like to read.❞ she murmured as she entered, hands stuffed into the pockets of her jeans as she glanced at damien, then back to maddie. ❝although people usually organize libraries by author last name, not title. just, y'know, food for thought.❞ she mused, eyeing the stacks in alphabetical order.
