RIVERCLAN PATRON SYSTEM 9/2
« on: September 03, 2017, 01:59:56 AM »
RIVERCLAN — a peaceful neutral clan living in the marshes.
Welcome to the official RiverClan patron thread! Here, you can link your characters to a certain god, understand the meaning behind certain sacrifices, and even have your character take on the role as priest!

▪︎ TAKING A GOD AS A PATRON
This event doesn't particularly affect anything related to the character and their ranking, but is more of a fun way of spicing things up. Taking a particular god as a particular patron can often result in events related to that god, as well as sacrifices usually dedicated to that one god in particular.

▪︎ PRIESTS AND THEIR DUTIES
There are seven priests, each corresponding to each god. Some priests are linked with certain roles in the clan (such as Horus with the pharaoh, Sekhmet with the doctor), but priests may be appointed if that clanner has no interest in the religion. Priests are to participate in sacrifices, host sacrifices, instigate god-related events, and consult with the members that correspond with their god. They're the teachers of their gods, they have the closest connection with the god in question.

▪︎ RIVER GODS

— ANUKET A gazelle decorated with ostrich feathers, Anuket is the personification of the river, the "soul" of the river, if you will. Anuket is not the creator figure, but is the most prominent god in their religion. Anuket's sacrifices mainly involve shells and precious items. Bullhead fish are sacred to Anuket, eating this fish (unless as a last resort) will anger them.

— SOBEK A dog who has scales and teeth like a crocodile, Sobek is the god of prowess and power, but most importantly, Sobek is the god of protection against dangers in the rivers. Many parents will offer up fish to Sobek to keep their young children safe.

    MEMBERS — blank

— THOTH An ibis able to transform into a baboon (or the other way around), Thoth is the god of wisdom, writing, records and thought. Many warriors training apprentices will offer up prey or grain to Thoth, in exchange for a quickly-learning, easily-trained apprentice. Thoth also takes offerings of knowledge, often warriors dedicate time to learn, and to teach others as a sacrifice to Thoth.
    PRIEST — Morningrise
    MEMBERS — Latinliterature

— HORUS A jackal with feathers coating its body, Horus is the god of the sky and kingship. Most leaders often take Horus as a patron early in their leadership in hopes of a strong clan. Eyes of animals are often given specifically to Horus in offerings.
    PRIEST — Floralghost
    MEMBERS — blank

— MONTU A falcon who will transform into a bull when enraged, Montu is the god of war. Though rarely taken as a patron, most warriors will offer large frogs before battle, in hopes of gaining the victory.
    PRIEST — blank
    MEMBERS — blank

— NEPHTHYS Sometimes a kite, sometimes a dog, Nephthys is the god of death, rivers, and priesthood. Nephthys provides dreams to the leaders and priests, and manages the deaths of each Riverclanner. They are in charge of keeping the rivers, and prayers are often offered to them for a safe rainy season. Ooddly enough, tears are often used as sacrifices.
    PRIEST — blank
    MEMBERS — blank

— SEKHMET A fierce lion whose breath can dry even the dampest riverbeds, Sekhmet is the god of healing, fire, and war. Sekhmet rarely picks out Riverclanners outside medics. Sekhmet doesn't take traditional sacrifices, this god considers medics to be dedicated to the work. Healing and helping others will easily pacify Sekhmet.
    PRIEST — current doctor
    MEMBERS — blank
