FOLD | game night, open
« on: April 11, 2021, 12:29:31 PM »
ditching her kid for the rest of the day was the plan, originally, but max hadn’t been as easy as she usually is. okay. fine. joey can play that way too. she’d gather together all the family and any other lodgers that would want to join them, then pass rosalie off to one of them, as a treat. people love babies, for some reason, so joey’s just providing a service. the woman went around the lodge, passing out invitations like they’re candy. she chats with people, trying to put on the best of a tired single mom. she asks everyone if they’d like to hold her daughter. eventually, joey suggests a card game, a classic game of poker. after the game, she’d claim she’s been missing a lot of sleep and is thinking about going to take a nap, but is worried about rosalie and hope someone offers, but she isn’t opposed to asking.

she sighs, eyes rolling back into her skull even though the game has only been going for a couple rounds. josephine tries her best to bounce her fussing baby in a failing attempt to get rosie to calm down, but she’s already at her wit’s end. she shuts her eyes tightly as the little girl pulls on her hair with that incessant whine... even in the best of times, joey doesn’t have much patience for this type of stuff, then with the loss of seb still so fresh... she’s on edge constantly and a nagging baby isn’t helping. “ joey... “ there’s a pause, “ joey, it’s your turn, “ someone reminds, referring to the card game she got stuck putting together.

” i’m done, “ she spits, lifting up rosie as she gets to her feet before handing off the child to one of her siblings, she doesn’t even register which. her jaw’s clenched and shoulders nearly to her ears. she rolls her eyes and a shake of the head, joey turns, heading out of the lounge.

// just a little game night! and some vd drama, but anyone can hop into the game

The thought of having children was something that had never crossed Lucia’s mind. Even whilst she was still with Walker, it was something that neither had even contemplated let alone ever discussed as their future. Good — talking about the future was pointless when there would be no future to talk about. All that sentiment grossed her out, the thought of the future; it was a nihilist’s worst nightmare. Good thing Walker screwed her over and left her with a broken heart, huh? (Sarcasm).

Instead, Lucia far preferred to live in the moment, seeking dangerous thrills where she could find them because it was the only thing to make her feel alive. But, once her brothers were there to ultimately simmer her down with their naturally condescending ways, anything to do was better than nothing. When Joey suggested a game of poker, Lucia was sure to involve herself in it. Sat around the table, eyes darted over towards Joey every so often at her sighs as Rosie fussed around restlessly. What Lucia did not expect, though, was for Joey to eventually rise to her feet and resign from the game to give herself a moment of peace. With parted lips, Lucia’s gaze shifted across the others sitting around the table before she too rose to her feet to wander after Joey.

She found Joey just outside the lounge, Lucia comfortably folding her arms across her torso as her gaze darted across Joey’s face. ❝ Rosie giving you grief? ❞ Lucia questioned, having noticed the way her young niece seemed impossible to settle. With a small shrug, Lucia curled her lip as she then offered without second thought, ❝ Y’know, I can always babysit if you ever need a break from her. ❞ Usually, she’d never offer such a thing but Rosie was William’s daughter, Lucia’s niece. And, if Rosie was family, that made Joey family in her eyes, too. Family looked out for family, right?
— LOVE AND HATE, HOW MUCH MORE ARE WE SUPPOSED TO TOLERATE? CAN'T YOU SEE THERE'S MORE TO ME THAN MY MISTAKES? SOMETIMES I GET THIS FEELING, MAKES ME HESITATE. YOU CAN'T TAKE ME DOWN, YOU CAN'T BREAK ME DOWN . . .
